Ain’t nobody got time for this!

Hey yall,

It’s Friday and this post is not appropriate for work. Lol. You’ve been warned.

In honor of the last day of Women’s History Month and in honoring Black women, I want to take you on a journey. The journey of Professional Black Girl and Woman-ness in America.

Let’s start this journey at 5 years old:

You see Natalie. You see her joy and her sass. It only grows and flourishes. Because as Steve says, she’s really 52.

That Black girl joy and freedom, has to be protected because the world is a very hateful and harmful place for Black girls and it often starts in school:

But if our Black girls make it through their formal education AND they keep their identity in tact they are rewarded with becoming a Professional Black Girl:

Who are multi-lingual:

And about that LIFE. Because as Adam Levine found out when he jokingly came for Alicia Keys:

“I joked around with her… she was putting on a little bit of make-up and I go, ‘Oh I thought Alicia doesn’t wear make-up,” he told The Howard Stern Show.

“And she’s like: ‘I do what the f*** I want.’ “

Including calling a spade a spade and a bigot a bigot:

And the hope and prayer is that one day she will turn into a fearless and STRONG elder, who will not RETREAT and will not SURRENDER:

And the best that I can hope for, for myself and for all the Professional Black Girls and Women out there, is to sing the following song with pride and at the top of my lungs in these streets.

Don’t listen to this out loud at work. You’ve been WARNED again.

Because as the hashtag  #BlackWomenatWork showed, ain’t nobody got time for this shit!

So Happy Friday!

Happy End of Women’s History Month!

And go ahead, do whatever you want ’cause you poppin!!

PS: Protect our Black girls and allow them to have their Black Girl and Woman Joy! This song is going to be in your head for the rest of the day. Hahaha!

In solidarity.
